How to Get to Playa Zipolite

While there is no airport to Zipolite, getting here is fairly easy, and you have options.

From Huatulco:

Taxi:

  • Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours

  • Cost: Around $45 - $60 USD / $60 - $80 CAD

  • Details: Taxis are readily available at the Huatulco International Airport. They offer a convenient but relatively expensive option for travelling to Playa Zipolite.

Public Transit:

  • Duration: Approximately 3-4 hours

  • Cost: Around $10 - $15 CAD

  • Details: Take a local bus from Huatulco to Pochutla, then transfer to another bus heading to Playa Zipolite. This is a more budget-friendly option but may take longer due to multiple transfers.

Car Rental:

  • Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours

  • Cost: Around $40 - $60 CAD per day

  • Availability: Car rental options are available in Huatulco

  • Details: Renting a car gives you the flexibility to explore at your own pace. The drive from Huatulco to Playa Zipolite is straightforward and offers beautiful coastal views along the way.

From Puerto Escondito:

Taxi:

  • Duration: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours

  • Cost: Around 800 to 1000 pesos

  • Details: Taxis can be easily hailed in Puerto Escondido. Simply negotiate the fare with the driver before starting the journey.

Public Transit:

  • Duration: Approximately 2 to 3 hours

  • Cost: Approximately 100 to 150 pesos

  • Details: Take a colectivo (shared van) from Puerto Escondido to Pochutla. From Pochutla, take another colectivo or local bus to Playa Zipolite.
